Dubai Information and Travel Tips to Plan your Dubai Vacation

Dubai is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Although its economy was built on the oil industry, today it relies on income from tourism, property, and financial services. It has the largest immigrant population in the world and is the most modern and progressive emirates of the UAE.

Burj Khalifa

This skyscraper, originally known as Burj Dubai, is the tallest man-made structure in the world, surpassing the previous record holder Taipei 101 by over 1000 feet. Its construction began in September of 2004 and it opened in January 2010. There is an outdoor observation deck on the 124th floor for visitors to enjoy the view.

Burj Al Arab Hotel

Self proclaimed as the only 7-star hotel in the world, the Burj Al Arab, also known as the Arab Sail, is an iconic structure resembling a sail on a dhow (a type of Arabian vessel). You must have a reservation to enter the hotel and the dress code is "very smart casual."

Palm Islands

This set of three artificial islands in the shape of a palm tree is the largest in the world and was built to increase upscale beachfront property. Currently, the Palm Jumeirah and Palm Jebel Ali have been finished. The third island Palm Deira is still under construction.

Jumeirah Mosque

One of the more attractive mosques of the region, the Jumeirah Mosque is open to non-Muslims for special tours that give insight into Islam.

Bastakiya District

This historic district is one of the oldest residential areas in Dubai. Here, you can see many reconstructed buildings in the traditional style, including wind towers, and walk through the narrow lanes. You can also find the oldest existing building in Dubai, the Al Fahidi Fort.
