Khajuraho

The small town of Khajuraho is famous for its group of monuments. These Hindu and Jain temples are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are famous for its intricate and erotic carvings. The temples are grouped into Western, Eastern, and Southern groups. They are made of sandstone, held in place by gravity. Originally, there were over 80 temples but only 25 now stand in a preserved state.

Western Group of Temples Here, you will find the Lakhmana Temple, the oldest of the western group, and the Chaunsat Yogini, the only granite temple in the complex. Also, Kandariya Mahadeo, Devi Jagdamba, Chitragupta, and Matanageswara Temples.
Eastern Group of Temples Here stands the Parsvanath Temple, the largest among the eastern group, and Adinath Temple, lavishly embellished with sculpted figures. Also, Ghantai, Hanuman, Brahma, Vamana, and Javari Temples.
Southern Group of Temples Here, you can find the Chattarbhuj Temple, well known for its architecture and the lack of erotic sculptures. Also, the Beejamandal Temple, which is in ruins, and the Dulhadev Temple.
