Famous all over the world, Oktoberfest is a festival that started in Munich back in 1810 as a great horse race to commemorate the marriage of Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. Today, it is a 16-day festival known for beer drinking and hearty traditional German fares such as sausages and pork knuckles. Oktoberfest is the largest fair in the world, attracting about six million visitors annually.
