Yichang

Situated east of the Three Gorges Dam, Yichang is a vital transportation hub between the eastern and western parts of China. Since ancient times, it has been regarded as a city of great strategic economic importance and the cultural center of the western Hubei Province. Yichang divides the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River and is a crucial embarkation point for cruises through the Three Gorges.
