Day 1   |  Arrive-Beijing 

The plane touches down in Beijing, China s capital and one of its largest, most modern cities. Check in to our luxurious accommodations and enjoy the rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 2   |  Beijing  (AB, L, DP)

Dive into Beijing s extraordinary history as we embark on a tour of the iconic Tiananmen Square, the world s largest public square. Walk through the vast square and pass by Chairman Mao s Mausoleum, then venture to the Forbidden City, so-called because it was off-limits to the public for over 500 years. Admire the royal treasures in the on-site Palace Museum and continue on to tour the exquisite Summer Palace. Later on, we stop for photos at the 2008 Olympic Sites, Bird s Nest and Water Cube, then enjoy the local delicacy of a sumptuous Peking Duck dinner.

Day 3   |  Beijing  (AB, L, DH)

This morning we visit the legendary Great Wall, China s must-see sight, which snakes 4000 miles across China s northern borders. Spend some time walking across this immense defense system and admire the dramatic panoramas of China s rugged landscapes. Continue on to visit the Sacred Way, a "divine way" leading to the imperial Ming Tombs situated at the foot of the scenic Tianshou Mountain.

Day 4   |  Beijing-Xian  (AB, L, DH)

Before flying to Xian, we stop by the Temple of Heaven, constructed for the Ming and Qing emperors annual pilgrimages of prayer to the heavens. Located south of Tiananmen Square, the massive Temple of Heaven Park is China s largest complex of ancient sacrificial buildings. After our tour, we board a short flight to Xian.

Day 5   |  Xian  (AB, L, DS)

Deeply ingrained in history as the political and cultural capital of China for more than 1,000 years, Xian also marks the starting point of the Silk Road. Our city tour begins with a visit to the world-famous Terra Cotta Warriors, a life-size army which stand in fighting formation for China s first emperor. During lunch, we enjoy a traditional noodle-making demonstration, then journey to the Ming Dynasty City Wall and the Buddhist temple, Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Tonight, we enjoy a spirited Tang Dynasty dinner show.

Day 6   |  Xian-Guilin  (AB, L, D)

Today, we enjoy an Imperial Dumpling Banquet for lunch, complete with local Xian specialties. Board a short flight to Guilin, a strikingly beautiful city with scenery "unmatched under Heaven." Upon arrival, we visit Elephant Trunk Hill, a long-standing symbol of Guilin, then head to Reed Flute Cave. This magnificent cave boasts unique natural rock formations which create an otherworldly experience.

Day 7   |  Guilin-Yangshuo-Guilin  (AB, L, DH)

Cruise along the jade waters of the Li River and admire the timeless landscapes of mist, mountains, and meandering boats. From Guilin, the Li River winds its way along spectacular scenery and picturesque villages to the town of Yangshuo. Disembark at Yangshuo and stroll along its charming streets, lined with cafes and restaurants.

Day 8   |  Guilin-Shanghai  (AB, L)

Fly to Shanghai, a dynamic city known in the 1930 s as the "Pearl of the Orient." Shanghai is an ever-changing metropolis of stunning contrasts, where glittering high-rises rub shoulders with Chinese classical gardens and tree-lined neighborhoods.

Day 9   |  Shanghai  (AB, L, DS)

Sightseeing today takes us to the Bund (Embankment), Shanghai s famed waterfront boulevard which runs along the west shore of the Huangpu River. Admire the city s dazzling skyline, then venture to Yu Garden, a renowned classical garden from the Ming Dynasty complete with glittering pools, ornate pavilions, and exotic flora and rocks. Continue on with a drive through the famed shopping district, Nanjing Road, and later this evening, enjoy an exciting Chinese Acrobatics Performance.

Day 10   |  Shanghai  (AB, DP)

This morning we head to the Shanghai Museum, an award-winning museum filled with the world s finest showcase of ancient Chinese art and antiquities. Browse some of the 120,000 cultural artifacts and enjoy the remainder of the afternoon free at leisure to further explore the museum or venture into the city. Reconvene in the evening to attend our farewell banquet with freeflow wine.

Day 11   |  Shanghai-Hong Kong  (AB)

Board a short flight to Hong Kong, a dynamic port city of towering skyscrapers and marvelous harbor vistas. A Special Administrative Region of China since 1977, Hong Kong is a place where the ultramodern collides with its rich colonial past. From bustling night markets to afternoon tea at the Peninsula, this bustling city offers visitors a wealth of historical, cultural, and scenic attractions within its compact area.

Day 12   |  Hong Kong  (AB)

Embark on a half-day city tour of Hong Kong as we board a thrilling tram ride on the world s steepest funicular railway to the top of Victoria Peak. Marvel at the gorgeous panoramic vistas of the world s busiest harbor and continue to drive by Repulse Bay. Visit the bustling Stanley Market and Aberdeen Floating Community, famous for its colorful floating seafood restaurant and hundreds of its residents living on traditional fishing junks.

Day 13   |  Hong Kong  (AB)

Our grand journey through China comes to an end as we check out of the hotel and depart Hong Kong on an international flight back home; or make the most of our trip with an excursion to the enchanting city of Bangkok.
