Day 1   |  Arrive-Bangkok 

Our Thailand and Angkor expedition begins as we arrive in Bangkok, Thailand s capital city. Check into our deluxe hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day free at leisure.

Day 2   |  Bangkok  (AB,L,DS)

Discover the untainted charm of Bangkok s past as we venture to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Board a long-tail boat and glide through Bangkok s myriad canals, watching local residents sell fruits and vegetables from their boats. After lunch we enjoy the remainder of the afternoon free to explore the city on our own. This evening we attend a Thai Classical Welcome Dinner Show.

Day 3   |  Bangkok  (AB,L)

Today we visit the opulent Grand Palace, the former walled residence of the Thai Monarch and one of Thailand s must-see sites. Walk through lavish buildings and courtyards to the Coronation Hall, and arrive at the adjoining Wah Phra Kaeo, or Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The temple represents Thailand s spiritual heart and houses a 26-inch jade Buddha, the country s most venerated religious object. Continueto visit Wat Po, the Reclining Buddha Temple, and complete our tour with a stop at the Gems and Silk Factory. Enjoy the remainder of the afternoon free at leisure.

Day 4   |  Bangkok-Chiang Mai  (AB,DS)

Fly to Chiang Mai (New City), Thailand s beloved northern capital. Set amidst a backdrop of beautiful mountain landscapes, this 700-year old city artfully combines its rich heritage with its increasingly modern side. Upon arrival we are transferred to our hotel, and later this evening we gather for a Khantoke Lanna Welcome Dinner with by traditional Thai music and dance performances.

Day 5   |  Chiang Mai  (B,L)

This morning we journey to the famed Doi Suthep Temple, which rests atop the auspicious Doi Suthep Mountain. Wander through the temple and admire some of Thailand s most precious Buddhist artifacts, then step outside to take in stunning panoramas of Chiang Mai below. Chiang Mai is regarded as the handicrafts central of Southeast Asia, and today we visit some of its handicraft villages, including Bo Sang which specializes in hand-painted umbrellas, and the silk-weaving village of San Kamphaeng.

Day 6   |  Chiang Mai  (B,L)

Venture into the jungles outside of Chiang Mai to the Mae Ping Elephant Camp, where we watch elephants display log-rolling and other talents once used in teak harvesting. Today we have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride an elephant through the jungle and witness spectacular scenery along the way. An optional rafting cruise along the Mae Ping River is the perfect way to end our day.

Day 7   |  Chiang Mai-Bangkok-Siem Reap  (B)

Board a morning flight to Siem Reap via Bangkok. The gateway town to the temples of Angkor, this charming city has blossomed into the new epicenter of Cambodia.

Day 8   |  Siem Reap  (B,L)

Today we visit Angkor, which houses the world s greatest concentration of architectural treasures. Arrive at the magnificent Angkor Wat, one of the most breathtaking monuments of Angkor and an "epic in rectangular forms." Built in the 12th century, the temple s construction took over thirty-seven years, but was still never completed. Continueto visit the fortified Royal City of Angkor Thom, which includes a tour of the monuments Bayon, Baphuon, the Terrace of Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. Witness a magical sunset over the Cambodian countryside from atop an ancient Khmer temple.

Day 9   |  Siem Reap  (B,L,D )

Embark on a tour of Ta Prohm, one of the largest and most unique monuments of Angkor. Shrouded in dense jungle, this romantic temple was left untouched by archaeologists. Its ruinous and dramatic appearance allows us to see the way Angkor monuments appeared in the 19th century when the first explorers stumbled across them. We then visit Ta Keo, Chai Say Tevoda, the Roluos Temples and Les Chantiers Ecole, a school which teaches wood and stone-carving techniques. Tour the different workshops and watch the local artisans at work.

Day 10   |  Siem Reap-Bangkok  (B)

Fly to Bangkok and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 11   |  Bangkok-USA  (AB)

Our journey through Thailand and Angkor draws to a close as we board our international flight back to the US.
