Day 1   |  Arrive-Hanoi 

Our Indochina journey begins as we arrive in Hanoi.Check into our hotel and enjoy the rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 2   |  Hanoi  (AB,L,D )

Although the modern day capital of Vietnam, Hanoi still evokes the charm and mystery of its colonial past. Today we explore the Temple of Literature; an 11th century center for Confucian learning and a powerful symbol for the Vietnamese. Continue to visit the lotus-shaped One Pillar Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Ho Chi Minh s Stilt House. Stroll along the winding lanes of the Old Quarter, a shopping venue since the 15th century, and enjoy a traditional water puppet performance.

Day 3   |  Hanoi-Halong Bay  (AB,L,DH)

Enjoy the morning free at leisure until we board our coach to the mysterious Halong Bay, a stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 4   |  Halong Bay  (AB,L,D )

Board a traditional long-tail boat and cruise along the emerald waters of Halong Bay, past jagged limestone islands and nature-hewn karst formations. More than three thousand incredible islands rise from the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin, creating a breathtaking landscape evocative of traditional Chinese and Vietnamese paintings. Enjoy lunch aboard and then zigzag our way through the maze of islands to explore their hidden grottoes and caves of stalagmites and incredible rock formations. Stop and explore Titov island before sailing past floating villages and fisherman on our way back.

Day 5   |  Halong Bay-Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City  (AB,L)

Drive back to Hanoi via motorcoach and catch a flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, the remainder of the day is spent free at leisure to explore the city or relax at the hotel.

Day 6   |  Ho Chi Minh City  (AB,L)

Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City, or Saigon, a lively metropolis where emerging modernity coexists with ancient pagodas and colonial buildings. Take an excursion to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground network that provided a stronghold close to the city. Stretching over 124 miles and dug by hand, this incredible network connected command posts, shelter and hospitals. Walk through the area and learn about the day-to-day life of the Vietcong and venture inside the tunnels for a firsthand experience. After exploring part of the tunnels, we can enjoy the remainder of the day free at leisure.

Day 7   |  Ho Chi Minh City-Siem Reap  (AB,D )

Embark on a full-day sightseeing tour, beginning with a visit to the Reunification Palace, most notable for its symbolic role in the fall of Saigon in 1975. Continue to the War Remnants Museum to browse the extensive collection of weapons, tanks, photos and documentation from the Vietnam-American War. Afterwards, drive to the historic city center to visit the Emperor of Jade Pagoda, followed by visits to the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office, the ornate City Hall and the Opera House. End the day s sightseeing at Ben Thanh Market and take an afternoon flight to Siem Reap.

Day 8   |  Siem Reap  (AB,L)

Today we encounter the Cambodia s crown jewel, the magnificent Angkor Wat ("Temple that is a City"). The most breathtaking and best-preserved of the Khmer temples, the temple complex is the world s largest religious monument. Continue to the fortified city of Angkor Thom and discover the Terrace of Elephants, the Terrace of the Leper Kings, the ruined Baphuon, the Royal Enclosure, and Phimeanakas. Admire the marvelous bas-relief murals in the Bayon and watch the sunset over the Cambodian countryside from atop an ancient Angkorian temple.

Day 9   |  Siem Reap  (AB,L,D )

Visit the most romantic of the temples of Angkor, Ta Prohm. Enveloped by jungle foliage, the temple was the only one left in its ruinous state by early archaeologists. This dynamic temple, a favorite for many, looks as it did when the first explorers discovered Angkor in the 19th century. Continue to explore Ta Keo, Chau Say Tevoda, Roluos Group Temples and Les Chantiers Ecole, a vocational handicraft center aimed to preserve traditional Cambodian culture and artisanry. Take a tour of the stone sculpture and woodcarving workshops and watch the artisans at work.

Day 10   |  Siem Reap-Phnom Penh  (AB,DH)

Fly to Phnom Penh, Cambodia s capital city.

Day 11   |  Phnom Penh  (AB,L,DH)

Founded in the mid-14th century by the Khmers, Phnom Penh has blossomed into a vibrant city with a rich cultural heritage. We begin our city tour at Wat Phnom, a dynamic hilltop temple, followed by a visit to the Royal Palace and the elegant National Museum, where we can browse an extensive collection of Khmer art. In the afternoon, we visit the Tuol Sleng Museum (Museum of Genocide) and explore one of Phnom Penh s bustling markets, either Central Market or the sprawling Russian Market.

Day 12   |  Phnom Penh-USA  (AB)

Depart the fascinating land of Indochina as we board our homebound flight, arriving back in the US later the same day.
