Day 1   |  Arrive-Delhi

Arrive in Delhi, India s colorful capital, and begin our journey through India s fascinating lands. Numerous dynasties have ruled out of Delhi and have left behind a city rich in ancient treasures and architectural monuments. Greet our Ritz Tours representative in the arrivals hall and transfer to our deluxe accommodations to relax for the remainder of the day.

Day 2   |  Delhi  (B, L, D)

After breakfast we embark on a tour of New Delhi, driving past India Gate, the Presidential Palace, the Parliament House and the nearby Secretariat buildings – an eclectic blend of Victorian and 20th century architecture. Continue to visit the mausoleum of the Emperor Humayun and the 12th century victory tower, the Qutub Minar, which was created to signify the beginning of Muslim rule in India. Venture to Old Delhi and take an exciting bicycle rickshaw ride to Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. Complete our day with a tour of the phenomenal Red Fort, a marvel of red sandstone built on the banks of River Yamuna by the Emperor Shah Jahan, followed by a visit to Raj Ghat (Mahatma Gandhi s memorial).

After breakfast we drive to Jaipur, the "City of Victory." After checking in to the hotel we have the afternoon free at leisure to relax or do some shopping in the city.

Day 4   |  Jaipur  (B, L)

Today we venture to Amber Fort; a majestic Rajasthani fort palace constructed using red sandstone and white marble. An elephant or Jeep will spare us the trek up the hillside to the top of the fortress. After our tour we enjoy a photo stop at Hawa Majal – the Palace of Winds – located in the heart of Jaipur s shopping district. Following lunch we visit the City Palace, a sprawling complex of magnificent buildings, courtyards and gardens. The rugged exterior of the palace stands in contrast to its delicate interior, lavishly decorated with marble, mirror work, and frescoes. Part of the palace is still a royal residence and another part is comprised of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum, which houses a collection of art and artifacts unparalleled in Rajasthan. After touring the palace grounds we visit the Jantar Mantar, the largest stone and marble crafted observatory in the world; end the day with a turban and sari tying demonstration.

Day 5   |  Jaipur-Agra  (B, L, D)

After breakfast we drive to Agra, visiting Fatehpur Sikri along the way. This fortified ghost city and World Heritage site was the capital of the Mughal Empire for ten years. This resplendent complex of temples and monuments were constructed in uniform style and includes one of the largest mosques in India, the Jama Masjid. After touring the fort palace we transit to Jaipur and enjoy dinner at the hotel. Continue driving to Agra, the former Imperial capital and India s most famous destinationthanks to the Taj Mahal. Upon arrival we check in to our hotel and this evening we visit the majestic Taj Mahal, India s crown jewel and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. A ride on a tonga "horse carriage" takes us to the gates of Taj Mahal. This architectural wonder was created by Emperor Shahjahan as a memorial to his second wife and took 20,000 people over 20 years to complete.

Day 6   |  Agra-Delhi  (B, D)

Situated near the gardens of the Taj Mahal is the Red Fort of Agra, a 16th-century fortress of red sandstone commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565. Within its 1.5m-long enclosure walls lies a number of exquisite palaces, audience halls and two mosques. Upon arrival we check in to our hotel and spend the rest of the afternoon free at leisure.
