Day 1   |  USA-Beijing

Anticipation fills the air as you board an international jetliner to embark on your vacation to China. The widebody jet traverses the Pacific, crossing the international date line to arrive at Beijing.

Day 2   |  Arrive-Beijing

The flight touches down at Beijing. Your Ritz Tours guide awaits the group in the arrivals hall. Transfer to the hotel for a good night s rest.

Day 3   |  Beijing-Yangtze River Cruise  (AB, D)

Board a flight to Chongqing, a scenic cliff-side city that overlooks the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. After a brief city tour we board the Victoria Cruise ship and set sail for our Yangtze River adventure.

Day 4   |  Yangtze River Cruise  (B, L, D)

Arrive at the first shore excursion at the "ghost city" of Fengdu. With a history of nearly 2000 years, Fengdu is filled with temples and shrines dedicated to the gods of the underworld. Return to the ship for dinner and evening cruising. Dependent on river conditions, Wanzhou may be substituted for Fengdu.

Day 5   |  Yangtze River Cruise  (B, L, D)

Today the ship approaches one of China s most globally recognized icons, the Three Gorges. Pass through Qutang Gorge, the shortest and narrowest of the three, followed by the 25 mile long Wu Gorge. Admire the serene beauty of its mountains and sheer limestone cliffs, then board a smaller vessel to access the dramatic Lesser Gorges. Return aboard the ship and sail through Xiling Gorge, the longest and deepest of the Three Gorges. This evening we sail through the Three Gorges Dam ship lock systems.

Day 6   |  Yangtze River Cruise  (B, L, D)

Disembark at Yangjiawang, the site of the Three Gorges Dam. Meet an engineer from the project and learn more about the construction of the world s largest hydroelectric dam. This multi-billion dollar effort aims to provide a new source of energy to China and its construction has forever changed the landscape of the Yangtze River Valley.

Day 7   |  Yangtze River Cruise  (B, L, D)

As part the massive Three Gorges Dam Project, over 1 million people were moved from their towns to newly established homes. Today your shore excursion visits one such establishment, New Zigui.

Day 8   |  Yangtze River Cruise  (B, L, D)

Now traveling back upstream on the Yangtze River, today s excursion will be at Shennong Stream. The Victoria Cruise ship sails back through Wu Gorge and Qutang Gorge

Day 9   |  Yangtze River Cruise  (B, L, D)

Again dependent on local river conditions, your shore excursion today will be either at Wanzhou or Shibaozhao.

Day 10   |  Yangtze River Cruise-Beijing  (B, D)

The cruise ship arrives at Chongqing and your Yangtze River journey comes to an end. Board a flight to Beijing. Dive into the extraordinary heritage of the nation s capital as you visit the Forbidden City upon arrival. Off-limits to commoners for over 500 years, this sprawling palace complex was the imperial court for twenty-four emperors from the Ming to the Qing Dynasty. Afterwards, take a stroll through Tiananmen Square.

Day 11   |  Beijing  (AB, L)
