Day 1   |  USA - Bangkok, Thailand 

We set off on our journey to Thailand as we board our international flight bound for Bangkok.

Day 2   |  Arrive in Bangkok  (DH )

Our Thailand and Angkor expedition begins as we arrive in Bangkok, Thailand’s capital city. Check into our deluxe hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day free at leisure. Enjoy dinner at hotel this evening.

Day 3   |  Bangkok  (AB ,L )

Today we visit the opulent Grand Palace, the former walled residence of the Thai Monarch and one of Thailand’s must-see sites. Walk through lavish buildings and courtyards to the Coronation Hall, and arrive at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The temple represents Thailand’s spiritual heart and houses a 26-inch jade Buddha, the country’s most venerated religious object. Continue on to visit Marble Hall (Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall), and complete our tour with a stop at the Gems Gallery. Enjoy the remainder of the afternoon free at leisure.

Day 4   |  Bangkok - Ayutthaya - Bangkok  (AB ,L )

Enjoy the full-day excursion to the ancient city of Ayutthaya. First stop at Bang Pa In for a visit to the exquisite Summer Palace. Continue drive to the world heritage city, Ayutthaya. Once known as the “Pearl of the East”, Ayutthaya was the capital of Thailand from A.D. 1350 until its destruction four centuries later by Burmese invaders. Spend some time wandering through the lingering ruins of monasteries and temples, which offer a glimpse into the past splendor of the dynasties. Then we transfer to the pier and embark on the Grand Pearl Cruise. Enjoy the enchanting sights along the Chaophaya River while sumptuous buffet lunch is served on the cruise. The cruise ends at Bangkok. We disembark and transfer to the hotel.

Day 5   |  Bangkok - Damnoen Saduak Floating Market - Huahin  (AB ,L ,DH )

Discover the untainted charm of Bangkok’s past as we venture to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Board a long-tail boat and glide through Bangkok’s myriad canals, watching local residents sell fruits and vegetables from their boats. After lunch at a local restaurant, the motor coach will bring us to one of the hidden gems of Thailand, Huahin. A seaside town with unspoiled and pristine fine sandy beaches by the Gulf of Thailand, Huahin is the perfect place for your ultimate rest and relaxation. We check in to the hotel upon arrival and enjoy the remainder of this afternoon free at leisure.

Day 6   |  Huahin  (AB ,L )

Our half-day city tour of Huahin starts this morning with a stop at Huahin Train Station, the most beautiful one in Thailand. Next we proceed to the charming Marukhathaiyawan Palace. Built in 1923 and designed by an Italian architect with golden teak wood, this former summer palace for King Rama VI of Thailand was known as the Palace of Love & Hope because of the love story of King Rama VI and his Queen. The floors were made of precious red teak wood and all visitors are required walk barefoot through the entire building. After lunch, enjoy the afternoon free at own leisure at the immaculate beach.

Day 7   |  Huahin - Bangkok - Siem Reap, Cambodia  (AB )

Check out of hotel after breakfast. Return to Bangkok by motor coach and board a flight bound to Siem Reap, the key gateway city of Cambodia and the gateway town to the temples of Angkor. Upon arrival our local guide will meet and transfer us to the hotel.

Day 8   |  Siem Reap  (B ,L )

Today we visit Angkor, which houses the world’s greatest concentration of architectural treasures. Arrive at the magnificent Angkor Wat, the most famous and the largest Hindu temple complex in the world. Built in the 12th century by a king during the Khmer Empire, the spectacular temple’s construction took over thirty-seven years, but was still never completed. This “City of Temples” has now become Cambodia’s prime tourist attraction and even appears symbolically on its national flag. Continue on to visit the fortified Royal City of Angkor Thom, which includes a tour of the monuments Bayon, Baphuon, the Terrace of Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. Witness a magical sunset over the Cambodian countryside from atop an ancient Khmer temple.

Day 9   |  Siem Reap  (B ,L ,D )

Embark on a tour of Ta Prohm, one of the largest and most unique monuments of Angkor. Shrouded in dense jungle, this romantic temple was left untouched by archaeologists. Its ruinous and dramatic appearance allows us to see the way Angkor monuments appeared in the 19th century when the first explorers stumbled across them. Continue on to visit Ta Keo, Chai Say Tevoda, the Roluos Temples and Les Chantiers Ecole, a school which teaches wood and stone-carving techniques. Tour the different workshops and watch the local artisans at work.

Day 10   |  Siem Reap - Bangkok  (B )

Depart the peaceful Siem Reap and board a flight back to the excitement of Bangkok. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 11   |  Bangkok - USA  (AB )

Our journey through Thailand and Angkor draws to a close as we board our international flight back to the US.
