Our sightseeing tour of Jaipur begins with an elephant (or jeep) ride up the hillside to Amber Fort, a majestic Rajasthani fort palace constructed using red sandstone and white marble. Explore and rest atop this forested hill just outside of the city. After touring this beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu architecture, we enjoy a photo opportunity at Hawa Mahal - the Palace of Winds. Located in the heart of Jaipur's shopping district, the hawa Mahal is an elaborate palace decorated with intricate latticework. The exterior design was originally intended for the ladies of the court to observe everyday life in the street below. Following lunch, we visit the City Palace, a sprawling complex of magnificent buildings, courtyards and gardens. The rugged palace exterior stands in contrast with its delicate interior, lavishly decorated with marble, mirror work, and frescoes. Part of the palace is still a royal residence while another part is comprised of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum, which houses a collection of art and artifacts unparalleled in Rajasthan. After touring the palace grounds we walk to the adjacent jantar Mantar, the largest and best preserved stone and marble observatory in the world. Before returning to the hotel, attend a turban and sari tying demonstration.

Day 6   |  Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra  (B ,L ,DH )

This Morning we transit by motor coach to Agra, visiting Fatehpur Sikri along the way. A fortified ghost city and a World Heritage site, Fatehpur Sikri is a maze of ornate pavillions and courtyards that evoke images of opulent imperial times. Built during the late 16th century by the Great Emperor Akbar, this palace served as the capital of the Mughal Empire but was soon abandoned when the local wells went dry. To this day, most of the monuments and buildings remain in exceptional quality as when it was first constructed over 300 years ago. After touring the palace, we continue to Agra, the former Imperial capital and India's most famous destination thanks to the Taj Mahal. Upon arrival, we check into our hotel in Agra. In the evening, we take a tonga ride to the Taj Mahal, India's crown jewel and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. This architectural wonder was created in the mid 17th century by Emperor Shah Jahan as an expression of his love for his wife. It took 20,000 people over 20 years to complete. The white marbles were quarried 200 miles away and transported by a fleet of 1000 elephants. Amazingly perfect from every angle, it is the close-up marble inlay work that will truly astound and mesmerize you. Ample time will be given to explore and survey this outstanding piece of architecture.

Day 7   |  Agra - Delhi  (B ,DH )

Situated near the gardens of the Taj Mahal is the Agra Fort, a 16th century red sandstone fortress commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565. Within its 1.5 mile-long wall enclosure lies a number of exquisite palaces, audience halls, and two mosques. Enjoy a tour through this powerful fortress and attend an intricate marble inlay demonstration before continuing our drive back to Delhi.
