Day 1   |  USA - Beijing 

Anticipation fills the air as you board an international jetliner to embark on your Ritz Tours vacation to China. The wide body jet traverses the Pacific, crossing the international dateline to arrive at Beijing.

Day 2   |  Arrive Beijing 

The flight arrives at Beijing. Your Ritz Tours guide awaits the group in the arrival hall. Transfer to hotel for a good night's rest.

Day 3   |  Beijing - Chongqing - Yangtze River Cruise  (AB, D)

Board a flight to Chongqing, a scenic cliff-side city that overlooks the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. After a brief city tour we board the majestic Victoria Cruises' luxury cruise ship and set sail for our Yangtze River adventure.

Day 4   |  Yangtze River Cruise  (B, L, D)

Arrive at our first shore excursion at the “ghost city” of Fengdu. With a history of nearly 2000 years, Fengdu is filled with temples and shrines dedicated to the gods of the underworld. Return aboard the ship for dinner and evening cruising. (depending on river condition, alternate excursion to Wanzhou may be substituted)

Day 5   |  Yangtze River Cruise  (B, L, D)

Today we approach one of China’s most globally recognized icons, the Three Gorges. We first pass through Qutang Gorge, the shortest and narrowest of the three, followed by the 25-mile long Wu Gorge. Admire the serene beauty of its mountains and sheer limestone cliffs, then board a smaller vessel to access the Daning River Lesser Gorges. Return aboard the ship and sail through Xiling Gorge, the longest and deepest of the Three Gorges. This evening we sail through the Three Gorges Dam ship lock systems.

Day 6   |  Yangtze River Cruise  (B, L, D)

Disembark at Yangjiawang, the site of the Three Gorges Dam. Meet an engineer from the Three Gorges Dam Project and learn more about the construction of the world’s largest hydroelectric dam. This multibillion-dollar effort aims to provide a new source of energy to China and its construction has forever changed the landscape of the Yangtze River valley. Return aboard our ship and sail on to Yichang. After a brief city tour, we board our cruise ship for dinner.

Day 7   |  Yangtze River Cruise  (B, L, D)

Shore excursion to New Zi Gui. Sail through Xiling Gorge.

Day 8   |  Yangtze River Cruise  (B, L, D)

Shore excursion to Shennong Stream. Our cruise ship sails through Wu Gorge and Qutang Gorge.

Day 9   |  Yangtze River Cruise  (B, L, D)

Excursion to White Emperor City in the morning.

Day 10   |  Yangtze River Cruise - Chongqing - Beijing  (B, D)

Disembark in Chongqing and our Yangtze rive journey comes to an end. Board flight to Beijing. Dive into the extraordinary heritage of the nation's capital as we visit Forbidden City upon arrival. Off-limits to commoners for 500 years, this sprawling palace complex was the imperial court for twenty-four emperor from the Ming to the Qing Dynasty. Walk through Tiananmen Square afterwards.

Day 11   |  Beijing  (AB, L)

After breakfast, we visit Great Wall, China's ultimate treasure. After lunch, picture stop at 2008 Summer Olympic sites Bird Nest Stadium and Water Cube Aquatics Center and back to hotel.

Day 12   |  Beijing - USA  (AB)

Transfer to airport to board our homebound flight.
