Day 1   |  USA - Beijing, China 

Excitement fills the air as you set off on your journey to China and Hong Kong. Board your international flight for Beijing. You’ll cross the expansive Pacific and spend the night aboard.

Day 2   |  Arrive in Beijing 

Touch down in Beijing, China’s capital city. You are greeted by your expert guide, begin your adventure with an opportunity to gather yourself and acclimate to your exciting new environment. Feel free to casually explore the city or simply unwind at the hotel.

Day 3   |  Beijing  (AB, L, DP)

China’s political fulcrum, Beijing was established as the nation’s capital in 1421 at the direction of Ming emperor Yongle. Since then, this remarkable metropolis has witnessed countless pivotal events, shaping China’s history. Your exploration of Beijing begins in Tiananmen Square. Among the world’s greatest city squares, the historic Tiananmen Square can accommodate 600,000 people. Immediately to the north of the Square, you arrive at the Forbidden City*, so called because historically none could enter without royal permission. Continuing your Beijing outing, you’ll visit the Summer Palace* and then on take photo-stops at the 91,000-seat Bird’s Nest stadium and the stunning Water Cube aquatics center. This evening, enjoy a famous local cuisine, Peking Duck.

Day 4   |  Beijing  (AB, L)

Leaving the central Beijing, you journey to the legendary Great Wall* of China. Spanning 4,000 miles, this marvel resolutely stands watch over China’s northern border as it has for thousands of years. Be enthralled by its panoramic views before traversing the ornately decorated Sacred Way*.

Day 5   |  Beijing - Xian  (AB, DH)

Your stay in Beijing concludes at the Temple of Heaven*. Described by UNESCO as a “masterpiece of architecture and landscape,” this massive imperial altar was built to evoke the eternal connection between Heaven and Earth. As you continue to explore China’s wonders, a short flight brings you to the “Eternal City” of Xian, where it’s fortified city wall and isolated location has served to protect its 3,000 year history.

Day 6   |  Xian  (AB, L, DS)

As one of China’s ancient capitals, Xian was the starting point of the famed Silk Road for merchants. Today Xian is one of central China’s most important centers of commerce and politics. The main attraction to be found here is the Terra Cotta Army* which consists of thousands of life-sized terracotta soldiers and their warhorses. These warriors were commissioned by China’s first emperor to accompany him into the afterlife. You’ll walk among these eerily lifelike guardsmen while contemplating their eternal obligation. Then travel to see the Ming Dynasty City Wall*, the largest intact city wall in China. As the day ends, relax and enjoy the Imperial Dumpling Dinner and the Tang Dynasty Performance.

Day 7   |  Xian - Guilin  (AB, L)

Your sightseeing stops today in Xian are the Grand Mosque* and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda*, one of China’s archetypal spiritual temples. Then board a short flight to Guilin, one of China’s most beautiful and picturesque cities. Locals like to boast that the beauty of their city is “unmatched under heaven.” Judge for yourself as our bus approaches the city where unique landscapes of sinkholes, caves and tree covered karst mountains. Once in Guilin, check in to our five star hotel to relax and enjoy the remainder of the day free at leisure.

Day 8   |  Guilin - Yangshuo - Guilin  (AB, L, DH)

A cruise along the Li River* is the centerpiece of any visit to Guilin. Running over 52 miles in length, the scenery afforded along the way consists of wonderful idyllic rural scenery, local villages and stunning karst peaks that have been rendered throughout history by countless Chinese artists. The cruise ends upon arrival at the town of Yangshuo, where the group disembarks . Reboard the motor coach and head back to Guilin to visit Reed Flute Cave*, a natural limestone cave with multicolored lighting that brings attention to its large number of stalagmites and stalactites arrange in fascinating otherworldly shapes. Dinner is served at the hotel.

Day 9   |  Guilin - Shanghai  (AB, D)

Continue the city tour of Guilin with a visit to famous landmark Elephant Trunk Hill*, a small mountain that resembles an elephant with its trunk dipped in the Li River. The tour of Guilin completed, we depart the city on a flight bound for Shanghai. On the way into town, you’ll note immediately the stark contrast between the two cities. Whereas Guilin has been relatively untouched by industrialization and modernization, Shanghai is a mega-city that embraces growth and change. Transfer to the luxury hotel upon arrival. Dinner is served at local restaurant.

Day 10   |  Shanghai  (AB, DS)

Begin your exploration of Shanghai in the peaceful halls of the Yu Garden*, where the serenity of this 16th century Ming garden anchors the unfettered ambitions of the world’s largest city. From here you travel to the world-class shopping district of Nanjing Road and the waterfront boulevard known as The Bund before completing your city tour with a visit to Shanghai Museum*. You’ll return to dinner and the soaring spectacle of the Chinese Acrobatics Show.

Day 11   |  Shanghai - Optional Suzhou Tour  (AB, DP)

Enjoy the opportunity to freely explore Shanghai on your own, or join an optional tour of Suzhou. This day trip includes a visit the Humble Administrator’s Garden and a cruise along the Grand Canal. Your outing to Suzhou concludes at a local silk factory, honoring the city’s history as a key hub in ancient China’s silk trade. At the end of the day, you and your fellow travelers will bid farewell to Shanghai, the Dinner Banquet.

Day 12   |  Shanghai - Hong Kong  (AB)

A short flight takes you from Shanghai to the island city of Hong Kong. With humble beginnings as a small fishing village, Hong Kong stands today as “Asia’s World City.” Upon arrival, enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 13   |  Hong Kong  (AB)

Begin your half-day tour of Hong Kong aboard the Victoria Peak tram*, where you’ll be captivated by indescribable views of the energetic Hong Kong Harbor. You’ll then travel to Hong Kong’s southern district to take in the scenic Repulse Bay and shop along the busy street stalls of Stanley Market. As a last stop, visit the iconic Aberdeen Floating Community and observe the harbor’s hundreds of junk ships as they carry out their everyday duties.

Day 14   |  Hong Kong - USA  (AB)

Your adventure comes to an end as you bid farewell to China & Hong Kong and board your flight back to the USA.
