Day 1   |  USA – Beijing, China 

Board your international flight to Beijing as you anticipate the majestic wonder of China.

Day 2   |  Arrive in Beijing 

Touch down in the Chinese capital of Beijing. Here you’ll be greeted by your expert guide and transferred to your luxurious Premiere five-star accommodations. The rest of the day is free at leisure for you to unwind at the hotel or explore Beijing on your own.

Day 3   |  Beijing  (AB, L, DP)

The political epicenter of China since 1421, the metropolis of Beijing has been ground zero for several pivotal events in the nation’s history. You begin your tour of the city with a walk through Tiananmen Square. Among the world’s greatest city squares, the historic Tiananmen Square can accommodate 600,000 people. To the immediate north of the Square, you’ll find the Forbidden City*, where historically all without royal permission were prohibited from entry. Continue your Beijing outing, visit the Summer Palace* on Kunming Lake and then take advantage of the picturesque photo-ops at the Olympic Bird’s Nest Stadium and Water Cube Aquatics Center. That evening, delight your taste buds with Beijing’s famous local delicacy, Peking Duck.

Day 4   |  Beijing  (AB, L, DH)

The Great Wall* of China, China’s most famous landmark and global icon has stood watch over the nation’s border since ancient times. For thousands of miles, the Great Wall stretches across vast northern vistas. This morning, you have the opportunity to walk atop its storied steps, admiring the profound scale of this manmade wonder, all the while appreciating the beauty of China’s countryside via this privileged vantage point. Upon departing the Wall, you’ll travel to the ornately decorated Sacred Way".

Day 5   |  Beijing – Xian  (AB, L, DH)

The Temple of Heaven* is your final stop in Beijing. This “masterpiece of architecture and landscape,” was once the imperial altar where China’s emperors of antiquity communed with the gods. Built to inspire awe, the Temple’s construction evokes the eternal connection between Heaven and Earth. To continue your adventure, a short flight takes you to south of Beijing to the “Eternal City” of Xian.

Day 6   |  Xian  (AB, L, DS)

Xian is home to the 8,000-member regiment of the astonishing Terra Cotta Army*. These warriors and their loyal steeds stand in formation, armed and ready to protect their commissioner in the afterlife. Take an up close look at these stone-faced troops in each of the three main excavation pits. Next, visit Xian’s City Wall*. The “Eternal City” has been protected by this massive fortification, which stands as the most intact city wall in all of China. Here you’ll enjoy a special opportunity to take part in an exciting bicycle ride. This evening following the Palace Banquet Dinner, you will be entertained by the Tang Dynasty Show.

Day 7   |  Xian – Guilin  (AB, L, D)

After breakfast continue your tour to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda*, one of the best-preserved Buddhist temples in China. Your Imperial Dumpling Lunch will be comprised of treats from several classic dumpling ingredients: including meat, seafood and vegetables. Later in the afternoon, a short flight takes you to the unmatched beauty of Guilin.

Day 8   |  Guilin – Yangshuo – Guilin  (AB, L, DH)

Relax on the picturesque Li River Cruise*. Admire the everyday lives of local villagers and fishermen while taking in the landscapes that have inspired Chinese artists since ancient times. Enjoy lunch aboard your cruise ship before arriving in Yangshuo. Here you’ll enjoy a stroll through its main boulevard West Street, discovering the handicrafts of the local market, before taking your motor coach back to Guilin.

Day 9   |  Guilin – Shanghai  (AB, L)

Two landmarks epitomize Guilin: the rock formations of Reed Flute Cave* and the ever-symbolic Elephant Trunk Hill*. Enjoy these illustrious sights by walking through the illuminated Cave, and later admiring the uncanny appearance of the Elephant Trunk Hill, which bears the likeness of an elephant with its trunk dipped in the Li River. Then board your flight to the avant-garde city of Shanghai.

Day 10   |  Shanghai  (AB, L, DS)

Your Shanghai expedition begins with a trip to the serene elegance of Yu Garden*. Then travel to the shores of the Huangpu River where you’ll stroll among the eclectic buildings and waterfront views of the Bund. Driving through the famous shopping district of Nanjing Road, you’ll arrive at the impressively stocked Shanghai Museum*. Since 1952, the Museum’s curators have diligently collected over 120,000 examples of ancient Chinese art and antiquities. From paintings and sculpture to dynastic furniture, you’ll find something on display for every liking. Conclude your day with dinner and the soaring spectacle of the Chinese Acrobatics Show.

Day 11   |  Shanghai  (AB, DP)

Enjoy today free at leisure. Choose to explore Shanghai on your own, perhaps seeking out a site that suits your unique interests. Or elect to take the Jewish Heritage tour at no additional charge, where you’ll discover the incredible history of Jewish settlement in China. At the end of the day, the Farewell Dinner Banquet affords you the opportunity to gather one last time with your fellow travelers and celebrate your adventures.

Day 12   |  Shanghai – USA  (AB)

Your journey through the majestic sights and wonders of China concludes as you board your return flight to the USA. A two-night extension to the remarkable island city of Hong Kong is also available for your consideration.
