Day 1   |  USA – London, England 

Boarding your international flight to London, you begin your journey to the Old World.

Day 2   |  Arrive in London  (L)

As you touch down in London, soak in the sprawling grandeur of this global leader and largest city of the European Union. Y our expert guide greets you at the arrivals hall. Y ou’ll make the trip to the iconic Windsor Castle*, world-renowned for its architecture and longstanding connection to the royal family. After exploring the stately castle grounds and the resources of the Royal Collection, you’ll transfer to the hotel. (L or D)

Day 3   |  London  (B)

After breakfast the group travel to Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress, the Tower of London*. Envision its storied history as you move through its hauntingly beautiful halls. Conclude your tower tour at the regal Crown Jewels, the U.K.’s treasured royal vestments. Then it’s on to your motor coach, to enjoy a driving tour of several well-known sights: Big Ben, Parliament and Trafalgar Square, before making photo stops at Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. Take the rest of your day at leisure to explore London on your own, or elect for the optional Cambridge tour.

Day 4   |  London – Paris, France  (B)

Today you travel via high-speed railway, Eurostar*, to the exquisite city of Paris. Your heart will race as you anticipate setting foot in this beautiful “City of Lights,” where enchanting landmarks evoke nostalgia and awe. When you arrive, feel free to explore the city at your own pace, enjoying a local café or simply taking in the tree-lined Parisian streets. If your sense of romance moves you, you may elect for an optional cruise of the River Seine.

Day 5   |  Paris  (B, D)

Your day’s tour begins southwest of Paris at the Palace of Versailles*. This chateau was home to the French Royals until the French Revolution in 1789. It remains a grand testament to the timeless values of beauty and elegance. Complete your palace tour before travelling on to the incomparable Louvre Museum*. Housed within a 12th century fortress, this world-class gallery is also an historical monument. You’ll be star-struck by the luminaries of The Louvre: Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo, while discovering the rich variety of its collection. From Greco-Roman and Near-Eastern pieces to the Romanticism of the Objects d’art, the Louvre is an art lover’s paradise. Later in the day, enjoy the sights from aboard your motor coach: the Eiffel Tower, Opera House, Palace de La Concord, Champs Elysee and the Arc de Triomphe. In the evening you’ll have the option to attend the risqué world famous Moulin Rouge Cabaret Show.

Day 6   |  Paris – Lucerne, Switzerland  (B)

Heading east to Switzerland, you arrive at the destination city of Lucerne. Dramatically nestled between lakeshores and mountaintops, Lucerne deserves its scenic reputation, reminding you of Switzerland’s old moniker, “the Playground of Europe.” Upon arrival, consider a leisurely promenade into the city center, or simply unwind in the comforts of your hotel.

Day 7   |  Lucerne – Milan, Italy  (B, DH)

The Reuss River winds through the city into Lake Lucerne. Among the many bridges that cross it, Chapel Bridge stands out for its beauty and history. Built in 1333, this crossing is commonly understood as Europe’s oldest covered bridge. Explore this landmark and the shores of Lake Lucerne before arriving at Thorvaldsen’s contemplative monument to courage, the Lion of Lucerne. Later, take time to appreciate Old Town Lucerne at your leisure. If the interest piques you, enjoy an optional tour of fabled Mt Pilatus. Ride the world’s steepest rack railway to this unique vantage point where 73 mountain peaks can be seen, atmospheric conditions permitting. As the day’s activities conclude, travel south via motor coach to the “fashion capital of the world” - Milan, Italy.

Day 8   |  Milan – VeronaVenice  (B, DH)

Today you’ll take a tour into the classical heart of Milan’s glamorous modernity. Your sightseeing landmarks include the Teatro alla Scala, Milan Cathedral, and the Leonardo da Vinci Statue, a monument to the Renaissance icon. Your motor tour continues to Verona, the city whose passion sets the stage for Shakespeare’s classic play, Romeo & Juliet. Here, stop to tour the city, paying special attention to its shrine to love, Juliet’s House. Conclude your day’s travel with an overnight stop in the Venetian provincial town of Padova.

Day 9   |  Venice – Montecatini  (B, D)

Taking in the romance and serenity of Venice, you begin your tour at St. Mark’s Basilica. Decorated with the works of some of the world’s finest artists, the Basilica is said to be the final resting place of the Gospel author, Mark “the Evangelist.” Continue your journey through the heart Venice, St. Mark’s Square. Then imagine the sorrowful laments of antiquity as you visit the Bridge of Sighs. Before departing Venice, you’ll have the unique opportunity to board an optional gondola ride along the iconic Grand Canal. An overnight stay in spa town of Montecatini concludes your day.

Day 10   |  Montecatini – PisaFlorenceRome  (B)

Heading west from Montecatini, you arrive at Pisa and visit the famously lop-sided Leaning Tower of Pisa. Then travel on to the beautiful Tuscan capital of Florence. Called home by countless Renaissance notables including Dante, Galileo and the Medici, Florence is deservedly known as the “Birthplace of the Renaissance.” Enjoy a walking tour of several “can’t miss” sights: The Duomo, The Bapistry, Signoria Square and the St. Croce Basilica. At the end of your city tour, depart southbound for Rome.

Day 11   |  Rome  (B, D)

Today you enter Rome, The “Eternal City,” Seat of the Papacy, and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Begin your city tour at the sovereign Vatican City, residence of the Pope and spiritual center to the world’s 1.2 billion Roman Catholics. Stroll the enormous awe-inspiring St. Peter’s Basilica and Square before heading due east to the magnificent Colosseum*. This famed amphitheater was home to ancient gladiatorial contests, and continues to be a spectacle to its innumerable present-day visitors. See the Roman Forum*, Constantine’s Triumphal Arch, the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain before enjoying what remains of the afternoon free at leisure. Your journey’s final scheduled event will be an evening dinner celebration with your fellow travelers.

Day 12   |  Rome – USA  (B)

As you board your return flight to the USA, delight in the countless memories of your journey through Europe.
