Day 2   |  Venice  (B)

The romance and serenity of Italy’s “Floating City,” the incomparable Venice. You begin your sightseeing tour in world famous St. Mark’s Square. Then view the finely decorated St. Mark’s Basilica*, the Gothic architecture of Doge’s Palace* and the sorrowful Bridge of Sighs. A stop at a traditional Venetian glass-blowing factory* concludes your day’s itinerary, where skillful craftsmen demonstrate this time-honored artform. The remains of the day are free at your leisure to explore the city; take this opportunity to shop or elect for an optional gondola ride.

Day 3   |  Venice – Ferrara - Pisa - Florence  (B, D)

Travel south via motor coach to Ferrara, where Renaissance-era painters and musicians established this city as a cultural epoch. Attend an orientation tour with your tour director who introduces you to this gem of a town. You’ll then continue to Pisa, home of its famously lop-sided Leaning Tower. View the Tower, the Piazza dei Miracoli, the Baptistery of St. John and the medieval Duomo Cathedral, before concluding your day at dinner. Today's tour ends in the beautiful Tuscan capital, Florence.

Day 4   |  Florence  (B)

Called home by quintessential Renaissance notables: Dante, Galileo and the Medici, Florence is deservedly known as the “Birthplace of the Renaissance.” Enjoy a city tour of several important Florentine sights, including the Piazza del Duomo, the Florence Baptistery, and Giotto’s Bell. Then visit the Academy of Art, whose gallery houses Michelangelo’s David*. Your city tour comes to a close at the Piazzale Michelangelo, where you’ll be awed by its stunning and generous view over Florence. Enjoy the rest of your day free at leisure.

Day 5   |  Florence – Assisi - Rome  (B, D)

Take in the panoramic scenery of Tuscany as your motor coach carries you through Umbria to the Perugian city of Assisi, birthplace of St. Francis. Here, you’ll take a walking tour of the Main Square and visit the Basilica of St. Francis*, mother church to the humble Franciscan Order. Continue to Rome for dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 6   |  Rome  (B, L)

The Spectacle of Rome. This 2,500-year old capital city captures the imagination of all who enter. Your full day tour takes you into Rome’s historic center to visit the Vatican Museums*, the Sistine Chapel* and St. Peter’s Basilica*. Then marvel at the gladiatorial icon, the Colosseum*, where storied ruins conjure the sights and sounds of ancient bloody exploits. Palatine Hill, the Imperial Palace and the Roman Forum* complete your sightseeing tour of Ancient Rome before returning to your accommodations for the night.
