Malacca

Malacca is Malaysia’s most historic city, with a diverse Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese and British countries heritage. It gained its independence in 1957 and was declared a Historical City in 1989. The city’s colorful past is evident in its cultural buildings, colonial structures and ancient landmarks.

Malacca

Christ Church

Built in 1753 the Christ Church is a testament to Dutch architectural creativeness. The church is located on one end of the town square and still contains countless Dutch and Armenian elements, including tombstones laid in the floor.

The Stadthuys

Until 1824 through the Dutch Administration, the Stadthuys served as the civic center of Malacca. An excellent example of Dutch architecture, it now houses the History and Ethnography Museum, which holds relics of Malacca s colorful heritage.

Cheng Hoon Teng Temple

Known as the "Temple of Evergreen Clouds," this is the oldest traditional Chinese temple in Malaysia. It holds an UNESCO award for architectural restoration and is ornately decorated with intricate carvings, mythological figures and extensive lacquer work.
