The architecture of the temple symbolizes the harmonious relationship between heaven and earth and is widely regarded as the noblest example of religious architecture in all of China.

Sacred Way and Ming Tomb Museum

After moving the capital from Nanjing to Beijing and building the Forbidden City in 1420, the third Ming Dynasty emperor Yongle selected this burial site and created his own mausoleum. Since then, 13 other Ming Dynasty emperors were buried in this area. Reflect on the past glories of kings when exploring their final resting places at the Thirteen Ming Tombs. Lying outside of Beijing City, the tombs are surrounded by tranquility that only nature can offer. Three tombs - Changling, Dinling and Zhaoling – are open to the touring public.

Summer Palace

This imperial garden is the largest in China and is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Summer Palace showcases Chinese landscape design that features pavilions, gardens, bridges, lakes and temples. The central Kunming Lake was man-made and its excavated soil was used to build the Longevity Hill surrounding it. The Hutongs

Hutongs are narrow ancient alleyways formed by the lines of Siheyuan (traditional courtyard homes) on both sides of the alley. In recent times, many hutongs have been demolished to make way for new modern streets and buildings. However, some hutongs have been protected and preserved as distinct Beijing culture and its old ways of life.
