Elephant Trunk Hill, a symbol of the city, acquired its name because of its unique shape. The hill rests on the west bank of the Li River with a shape similar to that of an elephant drinking from the Li River with its trunk. Between the elephant’s trunk and its front legs is Water Moon Cave, which one can pass through with boats. On top of Elephant Trunk Hill rests the Puxian Pagoda, which was built during the Ming Dynasty.
