Carved along the Yangtze River, the Three Gorges consist of the Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge, and Xiling Gorge. Qutang Gorge is the shortest and narrowest of the three, but it offers the most visually dramatic views. Wu Gorge is known for its serene beauty with forest covered mountains and sheer cliffs as well as its 12 unique peaks. Xiling Gorge is the longest and deepest of the three gorges with natural landscapes and historical landmarks. The Three Gorges are the most traveled tourist spots on the Yangtze River.
