Meet our guide in the arrivals hall and if time permits, we embark on a walking tour of the city, which is blessed with a wealth of cultural and historical treasures. Our first stop of the day is the intricate late-Gothic Duomo Cathedral, followed by the exquisite La Scala Opera House. Continue on and visit the statue of Leonardo da Vinci and the landmark Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, one of the world s earliest shopping malls.

This morning, we take a walking tour of Milan, if it was not visited yesterday. Afterward we drive to the beautiful medieval city of Verona, which rests along the banks of the River Adige. Renowned as the romantic setting of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, Verona has an atmosphere that evokes its Renaissance and medieval prime. Sightseeing today takes us to the city s prime attraction, Juliet s House, the fabled setting of the world s most famous love story. Later in the day we drive to Venice, one of Italy s most marvelous cities, where we stay overnight and enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Known as “La Serenissima” (the most serene) and built entirely on water, this magical city evokes the true essence of Italy. Embark on a city tour and visit St. Mark s Basilica, where we can examine the exquisite Byzantine mosaics and countless treasures, including the Pala d Oro alterpiece of enamel, gold and precious jewels. Continue on to tour St. Mark s Square, a vast square located in the heart of Venice, then visit the marble Prigioni Nuove “Bridge of Sighs.” After a traditional glass-blowing demonstration, we may take an optional gondola ride through the mesmerizing Grand Canal. Venice s most impressive facades line the canal, evoking romantic visions of this magical city.

A historic adversary to Florence, Siena s charm lies in its majestic buildings and its profusion of Gothic artistic treasures. We set off on a walking tour of the city, which has remained relatively unchanged since medieval times. Later in the day we visit Italy s most famous landmark, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Transit to Lucca and stay overnight.

This morning, we depart Lucca to Florence, the "City of the Lily." The birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence is blessed with an abundance of cultural and artistic treasures. A walking tour of the city takes us first to the exquisit Duomo Cathedral, the religious center of the city and the world s fourth-largest cathedral. Admire Brunelleschi s work of art, then head to the glittering bronze doors of the Baptistry, followed by a tour of Santa Croce Basilica and Piazza della Signoria, Florence s most evocative square. Continue on to Sorrento later in the afternoon. A charming coastal city lined with cobblestone streets, Sorrento boasts alluring promenades and vertical russet cliffs that overlook the Bay of Naples.

From Sorrento, we drive to the dazzling Amalfi Coast, one of Europe s finest. Stop for photos at the dramatically scenic town of Positano, then continue on to Amalfi, where we can walk around and enjoy the dramatic seascapes. Transit to Pompeii, some of the world s most famous ruins. In 79AD, a volcanic eruption buried the city under ash that would preserve it for some 1700 years. Discovered by chance in the 16th century, Pompeii offers a priceless view of an ancient civilization frozen in time. Later in the day we head back to Sorrento.

Start our day with a ferry ride to the breathtaking island of Capri, Italy s most famous seaside getaway. Arrive at the Marina Grande and begin our city tour of this jewel of the Mediterranean, taking in the island s grand hillside villas, charming squares and beautiful seaside views. Weather permitting, we may take an optional tour to the Blue Grotto, famous for its luminous sapphire-colored water. Later in the day, we visit Anacapri, located high atop a hill on the western side of the island. From Capri we take a boat ride to Naples where we meet our motorcoach and continue into the "Eternal City" of Rome, an iconic metropolis which harbors countless treasures from lost empires.

Sightseeing today takes us to the Vatican City, the world s smallest sovereign state. Tour the exquisite St. Peter s Basilica, one of the holiest sites in the Catholic world, and continue on to St. Peter s Square. The vast public square is located just outside of the basilica and is considered one of Bernini s finest masterpieces. Soak up the quiet elegance of the Old City and embark on a city tour of Rome, starting with a trip to the Colosseum. After visiting Rome s iconic symbol, we wander amongst the enduring ruins of the Roman Forum, and continue on to the Spanish Steps. Arrive at the legendary Trevi Fountain and spend the remainder of the day free to explore Rome on our own. During the evening we attend an Italian Farewell Dinner.
